Police intercepted a pickup van in Bhadrak district’s Santhia and rescued 17 cattle. Acting on a tip-off about cattle being transported from Vanta, the Old Bajjar police launched an operation and stopped the van near Santhia.
During the inspection, police discovered 17 cattle being transported in deplorable conditions. They arrested two individuals involved and impounded the vehicle. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The rescued cattle were found in critical condition due to the harsh transportation methods. A veterinarian was called to provide immediate treatment. After receiving medical care, the cattle will be sent to a cowshed for rehabilitation.
