Bhadrak Sees Gradual Improvement as Police DG Assesses Situation

The condition in Bhadrak is gradually improving. Today, Police DG YB Khurania visited Bhadrak to assess the situation. After discussions with senior officials, he urged the public to avoid false propaganda and rumors circulating on social media.

Khurania reassured citizens that they need not fear, as the police are taking responsibility and the situation will improve. Furthermore, he advised everyone to stay away from rumors and refrain from making unnecessary comments.

Initially, DG Khurania arrived in Dhamnagar, where he held talks with senior officials, including the Eastern DIG and Bhadrak SP. He also plans to attend another review meeting in Bhadrak today.

So far, police have arrested 27 individuals in connection with the attack on law enforcement. This includes 10 arrests from Bhadrak and 17 from Dhamnagar police station. Moreover, the BNS trend continues in the Old Bazar and Dhamnagar areas, including Dobal.

In these locations, supermarkets can operate from 6 am to 8 pm. However, mobile internet services remain suspended. Consequently, authorities have deployed 12 platoons of police and one company of rapid action force in Bhadrak, along with 6 platoons and one company in Dhamnagar.

After the review meeting, DG Khurania reported that five cases have been registered related to the Dhamnagar incident, with several arrests made. He stated that the situation is currently under control and police patrolling continues. Additionally, improvement is expected within the next day or two.

Khurania encouraged the public to report any objectionable content on social media to the police, assuring that immediate action will follow. He cautioned against relying blindly on social media, highlighting the prevalence of both news and fake news.

The turmoil in Bhadrak arose after a man made inflammatory comments against a particular community on social media. Subsequently, members of that community blocked the road near Santhia Pole, demanding the arrest of the individual. Although Bhadrak Tehsildar and Old Bazar Police intervened, tensions escalated when agitators attacked, injuring three police officers and damaging the Tehsildar’s lane. Currently, tensions remain high in the Dhamnagar police station area.
