BJP-BJD politics has intensified over the Jajpur incident, with both sides clashing again. Miscreants attacked Dharam Chaya MLA near Budghat Pol, a suburb of Jajpur town. Riots erupted that night at the town police station and Sadar police station. Later, former BJP organizational editor Pranab Prakash Das addressed the media and clarified the incident. He linked the situation to the Bariza project. Authorities arrested Bobby’s brother Lal on charges of abusing Pariva Bivali in a hut, sending him to jail.
After four days, the BJD criticized the police at a press conference in Bhubaneswar, blaming them for mishandling the situation. The BJP quickly countered these allegations.
During today’s press conference, the BJD accused the BJP government of deteriorating law and order in the state. They highlighted attacks on minorities and the rise in theft, robbery, and violence. The BJD alleged that BJP is using the police to target their workers and leaders. Chief Secretary of the Opposition, Pramila Mallik, announced that the BJD would meet the Director General of Police (DGP) tomorrow to demand justice. She warned of a statewide protest if the issue remains unresolved. Senior BJD leader Sanjay Dasbarma also blamed the police, accusing them of shielding BJP workers involved in riots.
In response, the BJP refuted the allegations. State party president Manmohan Samal claimed that BJD leaders are struggling to adjust to their opposition role. He suggested that self-interest and personal agendas are driving the BJD’s accusations. Manmohan assured that the ongoing investigation would bring clarity to the matter.
