Senior BJP MLA Badrinarayan Patra responded to the BJD leader’s claims, stating that the BJP formed the government after securing a majority. He dismissed the idea of BJD forming a government with Congress, calling it unrealistic. “It is impractical for Mr. Pote to suggest that BJD will again form the government with Congress. There is no basis for such statements,” Badrinarayan said.
He further criticized BJD leaders for speculating about returning to a BJD government from five years ago. “Those who suggest such things have no justification. They cannot authorize such nonsense. I’m not sure if Naveen Babu instructed them to make these claims,” he added. Badrinarayan emphasized that BJP has never been aligned with Congress in the way BJD leaders are suggesting. He condemned those misleading the public with false opinions.
Responding to BJD’s remarks, Mr. Pote said, “There may not be problems everywhere, but where there are, we are addressing them. Efforts are underway to unite everyone,” he remarked.
Reports indicate that BJD suffered a significant defeat in the 2024 general elections, with several of its key leaders losing. Despite this, some BJD leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Dekshisha Samantharai, Munna Chow, former MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Naik, and Latika Pradhan, continue to express their support for forming a government despite lacking a majority. These leaders seem to be making such statements to boost the morale of their workers.
