BJP Questions Priyanka Gandhi’s Wealth and Asset Sources Amid Election Nomination

The BJP has questioned the wealth of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, asking how she accumulated her assets and where her money comes from. On Thursday, BJP leader Guram Bhatia intensified the party’s criticism, accusing the Gandhi family of possessing “illegal assets.

“Priyanka Gandhi filed her nomination papers for the Wayanad by-election in Kerala yesterday. She declared her income and assets in her election affidavit, revealing her property to be worth ₹4.24 crore and her fixed assets valued at ₹13.89 crore. After this declaration, the BJP quickly raised questions about the Gandhi family’s wealth.

During a press conference, BJP leader Guram Bhatia attacked Congress, stating, “Congress isn’t a movement of love, but a brokerage shop.” He accused the party of leading in corruption and slammed their political practices.

Bhatia also referenced Rahul Gandhi’s 2018 comments on the Rafale deal, accusing the Congress of fabricating attacks on the BJP-led central government. He noted that Rahul had claimed the government took money from the poor and handed it to industrialist Anil Ambani. However, Bhatia emphasized that the truth is clear, and after 11 years of BJP rule, no one can accuse the party of corruption.

Bhatia directly challenged Priyanka Gandhi’s declared assets, asking, “Where does Priyanka Gandhi’s wealth truly originate?” He accused Robert Vadra of concealing his real assets and implied that Priyanka participates in land deals similar to Vadra’s.

He further stated that Vadra owes over ₹80 crore in taxes.

According to Priyanka’s nomination papers, she owns a Honda CRV. Robert Vadra holds fixed assets worth ₹37.91 crore. Priyanka also has a debt of ₹15.75 lakh and has invested ₹2.24 crore in mutual funds, along with ₹93,000 in other investments. She has three bank accounts and held ₹52,000 in cash as of September 30. Her PPF account contains ₹17.38 lakh.

Priyanka owns 4.41 kg of jewelry, including 1.5 kg of gold worth ₹1.15 crore. She also holds valuables worth ₹29.55 lakh.

As for her real estate, Priyanka owns agricultural land valued at over ₹2.10 crore. She owns a house on a 48,997 square feet plot valued at ₹1 crore, and her residence carries a price tag of ₹7.77 crore.

Robert Vadra owns commercial buildings worth ₹27.64 crore, along with farmland and a farmhouse in Mehrauli, New Delhi.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi contested from both Rae Bareli and Wayanad. After winning both seats, he vacated the Wayanad seat, paving the way for Priyanka to contest the by-election. The BJP has fielded Navya Haridas against Priyanka, while the Left party LDF has nominated Satyan Mokeri. Voters will head to the polls for the by-election on November 13, and the results will be declared on November 23.
