The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has faced protests led by Ashai, with support from Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore and other leaders. Following yesterday’s student agitation, authorities filed cases against Kishore, party state president Manoj Bharti, and 21 others in Patna. The Bihar Police accused Kishore of inciting examinees to create chaos on the highway.
The police also charged over 600 unidentified protesters for their involvement in the unrest. Those named include coaching manager Rahmansu Mishra, Nikhilmani Tiwari, Subhash Kumar Thakur, Shubham Snehail, Anand Mishra, Rakesh Kumar Mishra, and Bishnu Kumar, for organizing protests at Gandhi Maidan without administrative permission.
The protesting aspirants demanded a re-exam, alleging widespread irregularities in the BPSC exam conducted on December 13. The Bihar Police revealed that despite being denied permission to organize a student movement at Gandhi Maidan, Kishore and his supporters illegally gathered students, creating a law and order crisis.
Yesterday morning, police set up security arrangements to manage the student movement. However, the situation escalated by evening. Protesters, led by Kishore, marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence, defying barricades and blocking public transport. As they attempted to force their way through, the police intervened, using water cannons to disperse the crowd.
The protestors disrupted traffic and blocked roads, intensifying the chaos. The administration has now intensified action, stating that law and order will be upheld strictly in the wake of the unrest.
