Candidates Assaulted as Voting Unfolds in Haryana’s 90 Assembly Seats

Candidates faced violence during the Haryana assembly elections, with reports of physical assaults and torn clothing. Voting is currently underway for 90 assembly seats in Haryana. At 7 AM, voters lined up to cast their ballots, and while the process started peacefully, incidents of violence have emerged from various locations.

A confrontation erupted between Balraj Kundu and Anand Singh Dangi at booth number 134 in the Meham assembly seat. Balraj Kundu, the Haryana Jan Seva Party leader and candidate for Meham, visited the booth for an inspection. During this time, supporters of Anand Singh Dangi attacked him, resulting in the tearing of Kundu’s PA’s kurta. Kundu reported that his own clothing was also damaged during the scuffle.

Anand Singh Dangi, a former Congress MLA, is not contesting this election; however, his son, Balaram Dangi, is running for office on a Congress ticket.

Balraj Kundu accused Anand Dangi of being fearful of defeat, claiming this motivated the attack. He stated that when he went to booth number 134 for verification, Anand Dangi, who is not a candidate, confronted him aggressively.

In response to the violence, police arrived at the scene to restore order and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
