A tragic accident unfolded in Marchula, Almora, Uttarakhand, when a passenger bus plunged off the road, resulting in the deaths of 30 individuals and injuring many others.
According to reports, a bus travelling from Gaurakhal to Ramnagar lost control near Salt Coupe on Monday, carrying 45 passengers at the time. As the driver struggled to maintain control, the bus gradually tipped over. Some passengers managed to jump out during the chaos, sustaining injuries in the process. Rescue teams promptly transported them to the hospital for treatment.
In response to the incident, three teams from the SDRF quickly arrived at the scene to assist with rescue operations, joined by local police. The District Magistrate also reached the site to oversee the efforts. Authorities expressed concern that the death toll may rise.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He stated that the district administration must intensify rescue operations following the unfortunate bus accident in Almora. The SDRF team successfully rescued the injured and transferred them to the nearest hospital. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced on X that orders had been issued to airlift critically injured passengers if necessary.
