The end is not straight. There’s no strength to walk without support. Despite facing adverse circumstances, hundreds of people have gathered in the holy month of Karthik to witness the state of the kingdom.
However, they encountered disappointment while trying to enter the market. They cried out in unbearable pain on the streets, but no one acknowledged their suffering.
This scene unfolded this morning in front of Puri Vrindaban Ashram, where aspirants unable to register or find shelter joined the protest.
Devotees flocked to the temple to observe the Kartik fast. With today being a full moon, many plan to observe the Kartik Vrat tomorrow, resulting in a surge of aspirants in the city seeking spiritual merit during this auspicious month.
Frustrated by the lack of facilities, they took to the streets to demand a better system. The state government had announced various accommodations for pilgrims during Karthik month, urging individuals to register online from the 6th to the 11th. However, the portal closed just a day after opening, leaving many without registration.
Upon arriving in Puri, these individuals found no place to stay. In response, the Additional District Magistrate and Sub-District Magistrate arrived to address the protesters, stating that they would first accommodate registered pilgrims and then provide space for unregistered attendees.
Despite this assurance from the Puri administration, the protests continued. Many devotees, despite their eagerness to participate in Karthik month in Puri, faced disappointment and had to return home.
