Today, the Congress Party revealed its first set of 48 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections. The party joins forces with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s NCP in this electoral battle.
After finalizing the seat-sharing formula among the three parties, Congress will contest 85 seats, unveiling candidates for 48 of those today.
Notably, party president Nana Patole will contest from the Sakoli seat. Other key nominees include Congress MLA leader Balasaheb Thorat from Sangmanere, opposition leader Vijay Wadettiwar from Bromahpuri, former chief minister Prithviraj Chauhan from Karad South, and CWC member Naseem Khan from Chandivali.
Additionally, former minister Nitish Raut will run from Nagpur North. At the same time, Jyot Eknath Gaekwad will represent Dharavi, and Amit Deshmukh and Dheeraj Deshmukh will contest from Latur City and Latur Rural, respectively.
Earlier, Sharad Pawar’s NCP announced 45 candidates in the first phase as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Voters in all 288 constituencies of Maharashtra will head to the polls on the 20th, with results scheduled for announcement on the 23rd after the counting of votes.
