Congress Slams MP Govt Over Mhow Crime

The Congress party has directly attacked the Mohan Yadav government in Madhya Pradesh over a crime involving two women, including two trainee army officers, in Mhow. Former Congress MP Rahul Gandhi criticized the state government and expressed his concern about the incident.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “The violence against two army personnel in Madhya Pradesh and the rape of their female companion shame our society. Law and order in BJP-ruled states barely exist, and the BJP government’s inaction on rising crimes against women is extremely worrying.”

He further wrote, “Criminals have become emboldened due to the complete failure of the administration. This growing insecurity is restricting the freedom and aspirations of India’s daughters. Both the government and society must act now—how much longer will they ignore their responsibility to protect half of our population?”

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath also condemned the state government. He posted on Instagram, “Law and order in Madhya Pradesh have crumbled. Even army officers aren’t safe here. The kidnapping of an army trainee officer and the gang rape of a woman have shocked the state. Criminals operate freely while citizens suffer. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who also serves as Home Minister, if the army isn’t safe under your leadership, what chance do ordinary citizens have?”

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also reacted strongly to the incident. On Instagram, she wrote, “The kidnapping of army officers in Madhya Pradesh and the discovery of a woman’s body on a highway in Uttar Pradesh are horrifying. Every day, 86 women are raped and brutalized in the country. From homes to public spaces, women are unsafe everywhere.”

She continued, “Half of our population is living in fear, and millions of women suffer from such violence daily. The Prime Minister makes grand speeches about women’s safety, yet women across the country are still waiting for real action. When will this waiting end?”

The crime took place when Officer Kaushal Singh from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, who was in Mhow for training, visited Jam Gate with two women. They hired a car and were talking near a firing range when six miscreants approached them. The criminals demanded ₹10 lakh from the officer and one of the women while taking the other two hostage.

The gang then raped the female hostage. The officer, who was released, immediately informed the police. The police responded quickly, but the criminals escaped. Authorities have arrested two suspects and are actively searching for the other four.
