Criminals have looted millions of rupees through cyber fraud, enticing customers to invest in well-known companies with promises of high returns. Recent cases have emerged from Mumbai.
In the Malad area, a fake call center was uncovered. On Friday, a team from the Crime Branch raided the facility and arrested 14 people. These individuals cheated customers by promising significant returns in forex trading. The call center operated from Chincholi Port in Malad West.
According to a Crime Branch official, Unit-10 received information that led to the exposure of this fake call center. Employees collected personal information from investors online and later contacted them, posing as representatives of a UK-based firm called VFX Market. They scammed millions by luring victims into investing in forex trading.
Authorities arrested 14 suspects and seized 16 desktops, two laptops, two mobile phones, and documents related to the illegal call center.
