A case has been filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by the anti-corruption agency Loka, linking him to a land corruption scandal. Siddaramaiah stands as the main accused in the FIR, along with his wife Parvathi, Shala Mallikarjun’s husband, and a landowner.
RTI activist TJ Abraham has accused Siddaramaiah of fraud regarding the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment. The allegations suggest that Siddaramaiah’s wife unlawfully transferred valuable assets to MUDA.
Abraham urged Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot to initiate an investigation against the Chief Minister for corruption. In response, the governor ordered a police investigation in August. However, Siddaramaiah challenged this order in the High Court, asserting that the allegations are baseless and politically motivated, claiming they originate from the BJP.
Two days later, the High Court reviewed the case and upheld the governor’s decision, stating that the inquiry aligns with constitutional provisions. The court emphasized that it cannot impose a barrier to the investigation. Subsequently, Loka filed a case against Siddaramaiah, his wife, Shala, and the landowner.
