A husband in Bhubaneswar killed his wife, then dumped her body in a car and drove it to Nimapada in Puri district. The husband and his younger brother allegedly murdered her, suspecting her character. Following this accusation, police arrested the husband and the driver, presenting them in court.
The incident dates back to 2015 when Ramachandra Malla’s daughter from Gundi village, Nimapada, married Abhishek Naik of Charichak Saidabad village. Initially, everything seemed fine, but soon turmoil crept in. Abhishek grew suspicious of his wife Jharan’s character and accused her of having an affair with Vinoy Sagar Mallik. After a complaint was lodged, police arrested Jharan’s brother-in-law Sagar Mallik.
Following the arrest, Abhishek and his wife moved to Bhubaneswar, where they started living. Sagar, who was released from jail on bail, had frequent altercations with his wife. This caused more tension in Abhishek’s household, and Abhishek’s family grew increasingly suspicious of Jharan’s relationship with Vinoy Sagar. They allegedly plotted to kill her.
Abhishek allegedly strangled his wife with a water pipe in their rented house in Keling, Bhubaneswar. The next day, his father-in-law transported the body and abandoned it along the Konark-Nimapada main road, close to their village.
Upon receiving information from locals, police recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy on the 15th. Today, the police arrested Abhishek and the driver Vishwanath, charging them under the Indian Penal Code.
