In a heated exchange at the United Nations, India sharply criticized Pakistan after Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif raised the issue of Kashmir. Indian diplomat Bhavika Malasanandan forcefully denounced Pakistan as a “hotbed of terrorism,” challenging its credibility on the international stage.
Sharif accused India of issuing frequent threats against Pakistan and perpetuating violence. In response, Malasanandan utilized India’s right to reply, stating, “It is hypocritical for Pakistan to speak against violence anywhere in the world.” He highlighted Pakistan’s history of involvement in global terrorism and its role in the genocide in Bangladesh, questioning how a country with such a record could critique India.
Malasanandan underscored the impact of cross-border terrorism on India, referencing past attacks in Mumbai and other regions. He warned that Pakistan’s continued use of terrorism could have severe consequences for the country.
Following India’s response, Pakistan’s High Commissioner countered with accusations against India, claiming that the Indian government persecutes minorities and promotes terrorism through groups like Tehreek-e-Pakistan and the Balochistan Army.
This exchange marks yet another chapter in the ongoing tensions between the two nations, particularly surrounding the contentious issues of Kashmir and state-sponsored terrorism.
