The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the schedule for the first 21 matches of the highly anticipated Indian Premier League 2024 on Thursday. This announcement follows IPL chairman Arun Dhumal’s earlier statement confirming that the tournament will be held entirely in India. Dhumal also outlined a tentative schedule for the upcoming matches, with the remainder to be released after the General Elections 2024.
According to a source within the BCCI, the IPL 2024 season will commence in Chennai on March 22, with the initial schedule for the first 15 days of the tournament set to be disclosed on Thursday. The opening match will see the Chennai Super Kings face off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at M. A Chidambaram Stadium.
The rivalry between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) within the Indian Premier League (IPL) is widely recognized as one of the most intense matchups, often referred to as the ‘Southern Derby’.
Under the leadership of the legendary MS Dhoni, CSK has consistently demonstrated superiority in this rivalry, showcasing both consistent performance and strategic prowess. With a significant head-to-head advantage, Chennai has emerged victorious in 20 out of the 31 encounters against Bangalore, while RCB has managed to win 10 matches.
