On Thursday, a 24-year-old Israeli soldier of Indian origin, Staff Sergeant Jerry Zidane Hanghal, died in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The soldier fell victim to a deliberate vehicle attack.
A truck with a Palestinian number plate deliberately sped into the Israeli army’s guard post where Jerry Zidane Hanghal was stationed. Jerry, originally from a northeastern Indian state, had moved to Israel with his family years ago.
Authorities have identified the truck driver as 58-year-old Haile Dhaifalah. Israeli security forces are actively searching for him.
In related news, the United Nations reported that an Israeli airstrike on a Gaza school building on Wednesday killed 34 people, including six Palestinian UN employees. The Israeli army stated that Hamas fighters used the school as a hideout and were planning an attack.
Additionally, Israel launched another attack on Syria on Thursday, resulting in two deaths.
