Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Faces Legal Challenges Amid Land Corruption Case

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s legal challenges are intensifying as prosecutors filed a case against him yesterday related to land corruption in Mahisur Urban Development. In an effort to relieve her husband’s stress, Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, has taken decisive action by proposing to return 14 plots allotted to her by the Mahisur Urban Development Authority (MUDA). She wrote a letter to the MUDA Commissioner expressing her desire to cancel the deal and return the plots.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated a case against Siddaramaiah, his wife, his in-laws, and several others in connection with a money laundering investigation related to the land scam. The ED can summon both Siddaramaiah and Parvathi for cross-examination under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). They also have the authority to interrogate Siddaramaiah and may seize his property during the investigation.

A special court in Bengaluru ordered a local police probe into Siddaramaiah last week, leading to the filing of the FIR. While the Chief Minister and other leaders have not publicly commented on the matter, Siddaramaiah firmly refuses to resign, claiming he is a victim of political harassment and asserting his innocence. He vowed to continue fighting the legal battle.
