Telangana’s Forest Minister Konda Surekha ignited controversy with her comments about actor Naga Chaitanya and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s divorce. In response, Naga Chaitanya, Samantha, and prominent actor Khoda Nagarjuna condemned Surekha’s statement, as did many leaders from the South film industry.
Following the backlash, Konda Surekha softened her tone. She apologized to Naga Chaitanya’s family; however, she maintained her original stance and demanded that KT Rama Rao apologize as well.
Moreover, in a message to Samantha, Minister Surekha said, “I never intended to hurt your feelings. My statement highlights the ugly face of a politician playing with women. I admire how you’ve established yourself in the film industry. I deeply apologize if my words hurt you or your fans. Please don’t take it lightly.”
Meanwhile, Konda Surekha continues to criticize BRS leader KT Rama Rao without offering him an apology. Although KT Rama Rao has not publicly responded, reports indicate that he has filed a defamation suit against her.
Furthermore, Surekha accused KT Rama Rao of driving many actresses out of the film industry. She claimed he meddled in their personal lives and became involved in drug-related controversies. She also alleged that he used drugs himself, organized rave parties, and blackmailed industry professionals after getting them addicted.
In light of these accusations, KT Rama Rao condemned Surekha’s remarks, prompting Rahul Gandhi to comment on the minister’s shameful statements and dangerous political behavior. He demanded that the Congress minister, whom he described as being in a “mental state,” should receive immediate mental health care.
Finally, prominent figures in the Telugu film industry, including Chiranjeevi, Jr. NTR, and Allu Arjun, voiced their strong disapproval of Surekha’s comments, labeling them as highly offensive.
