In the case concerning the 69,000 assistant teacher recruitment exam of 2019, the Lucknow High Court’s double bench has instructed the government to issue a new selection list. The court also directed that reserved category candidates who qualify for the general category should be moved accordingly. The decision to reject the previous selection list of 6,800 reserved category candidates remains unchanged.
The court ordered the replacement of the lists issued on June 1, 2020, and January 5, 2022, with a new one. This revised list must be completed within three months, in accordance with Section 3(6) of the Reservation Act, 1994, and Rule 14 of the Service Rules, 1981.
The double bench disposed of 90 special appeals during the hearing. Although the verdict was announced on August 13, it was published on the court’s website today. The court modified the single bench’s order from March 13, 2023. To avoid impacting current assistant teachers, the court has ensured that their benefits for the current session will be preserved to prevent disruptions in student education.
