A hospital trainee has filed a lawsuit against a doctor, seeking justice for misbehavior and murder. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met with the agitated junior doctors, making an unexpected visit to their protest site today for discussions.
During the meeting, Mamata Banerjee said, “I have come here as your ‘sister’, not as the Chief Minister. My position is not above the people. You stayed here during the recent heavy rains, and I didn’t sleep all night as the protest continued. I am here to ask you to stop this. I promise to meet all your demands.”
She assured them that she would request the CBI to investigate, adding, “Please give me some time.”
This promise came a day after Mamata Banerjee mentioned she had agreed to resign from her role. The junior doctors had planned a protest on September 12 to meet her at ‘Nabanna’, but she and senior officials waited for two hours, with no one attending to the protestors.
Following that, she announced her agreement to step down. A day later, Mamata Banerjee joined the protesters near Salt Lake, promising to meet the doctor involved in the case.
