Binge eating has become increasingly popular among today’s youth. This trend spans all age groups, from children to adults, who are drawn to square-shaped foods. However, this category of food has become quite expensive. Many individuals now find their lives consumed by these square foods. Recently, a serious incident occurred in America, resulting in injuries to over ten people.
Reports have emerged of individuals falling ill after eating from the famous fast-food chain McDonald’s. Tragically, one person has died, and more than ten others have been hospitalized in the United States after consuming square-shaped food. In response, the company has temporarily banned the sale of this category of food.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the cases involved McDonald’s quarter-pound hamburgers. They identified a virus called E. coli in severe cases. Ten individuals, including a child in critical condition, have been hospitalized due to the infection.
The CDC confirmed that an elderly man died from an infection linked to consuming square-shaped food. Research indicates that infected individuals consumed quarter-pound hamburgers from McDonald’s. Although the exact cause of the infection remains unknown, investigators are focusing on the chopped onions and beef patties used in the burgers. McDonald’s has suspended the use of these two ingredients in its restaurants until the investigation concludes.
According to media reports, cases of illness began surfacing at the end of September. Ten US states have reported hookworm infections, with Colorado and Nebraska having the highest number of cases at 49. This wave of illnesses has negatively impacted McDonald’s, causing the company’s shares to drop by 6%.
Symptoms of an E. coli Infection
Individuals infected with E. coli experience severe fever, diarrhea, and vomiting. Symptoms typically last three to four days. Most people recover on their own, but some cases can be severe and require hospitalization.
