The medical students were chatting by the stream when a sudden torrent of water swept through. Five students got caught in the flood. Locals quickly rescued two of them, while search teams later recovered the bodies of two others. One medical student remains missing, with no trace found so far.
The incident occurred near Jal Tarangini stream in Aluri district, bordering Malkangiri district. Yesterday evening, 13 students gathered by the stream when the water surged unexpectedly, washing away four students, including one medical student. Local residents acted swiftly, managing to rescue one male and one female student.
Rescue teams searched extensively overnight for the missing student, but as night fell, they had to halt efforts without any leads. This morning, they resumed the search for the student who remains unaccounted for. All students involved reportedly attend Eluru Medical College.
