Earlier this morning, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan blocked an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team from raiding his house in Batla House. The ED team had arrived to investigate the Waqf Board case; however, Khan refused them entry, citing the absence of a local police escort.
As a result, Khan kept the door shut and insisted the ED officers could not enter, which led the ED team to call the local police for assistance. Despite their efforts, Khan claims the search was merely a pretext for his arrest.
Subsequently, in a video, Khan explained, “The ED came to my house at 7 a.m. with a search warrant. They aim to arrest me. My mother-in-law, who is battling cancer, had surgery just four days ago.” Furthermore, he stated that he has complied with all ED notices and accused the agency of harassment. “They are not only targeting me but also my party. Their goal is to break us; however, we will not be intimidated. I trust the legal system and the courts. We will get justice,” Khan said, while also calling the accusations against him false.
In addition, AAP leader Sanjay Singh criticized the central government and the ED in a video, accusing them of acting out of spite. Singh remarked, “The ED’s actions are brutal. Although Amanatullah Khan has been cooperating and asked for more time, the ED still arrived early this morning. There is no evidence against Amanatullah, yet Modi’s dictatorship and the ED’s tyranny continue.”
Ultimately, this incident has significantly raised tensions, as Khan and his party accuse the central government of using investigative agencies for political revenge.
