The assassination of veteran Maharashtra politician Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai on Saturday has sent shockwaves throughout the nation. Authorities suspect the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has also placed Baba’s son, MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui, on its hit list.
Sources indicate that the Bishnoi gang contracted shooters to target both Baba and Zeeshan Siddiqui. The shooters confirmed that they received instructions to eliminate both father and son together. If they couldn’t achieve that, they were directed to shoot whichever of the two they encountered first.

Zeeshan Siddiqui, who secured the Bandra East seat on a Congress ticket, faced expulsion from the party after cross-voting in the Legislative Council elections. Now, the Bishnoi gang is reportedly plotting his assassination.
On the day of the attack, Baba Siddiqui was shot by three assailants outside Zeeshan’s office in Bandra. Prior to the shooting, the attackers used pepper spray on a constable present at the scene.
Authorities have arrested Gurmail Baljit Singh and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashya in connection with the murder. However, another suspect, Shiva Kumar Gautam, remains at large, prompting multiple teams to pursue his capture.
In a related development, police apprehended Praveen Lonkar, who posted on Facebook claiming responsibility for Baba Siddiqui’s murder. Praveen is identified as the brother of Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar, a key member of the Bishnoi gang.
