Acting on information about Naxalite presence in the West Bastar Division, a joint police party launched a search operation. During the operation, the Naxalites opened fire, prompting the security forces to retaliate.
Officials have identified a possible group of 65 Naxalites hiding in the forest area, spanning 5 to 7 kilometers. Upon receiving this intelligence, police from Dantewada and Bijapur districts, along with other security forces, initiated the operation. The soldiers reached the location during the night, and the encounter began this morning.
According to officials, the encounter is still ongoing. Once it concludes, the police party will provide full details. A large number of Naxalites have reportedly been injured, and efforts are underway to gather more information.
