Odisha Braces for 3 Days of Rain Under Low Pressure Impact

A low-pressure area has formed over southeast Bangladesh and nearby regions, and it is gradually moving west-northwest. The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre has reported that the system may bring precipitation over the northwest Bay of Bengal within 48 hours.

Rain is likely across Odisha for the next three days, from today until September 15, due to this low-pressure system. Several areas may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Kalahandi district expected to get 12 to 20 cm of rain, leading to an orange warning.

Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts may receive rainfall between 7 to 11 cm, prompting a yellow warning. Thunderstorms and lightning may also hit some areas.

On Saturday, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts could receive 12 to 20 cm of rain, triggering an orange warning. Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput districts may see 7 to 11 cm of rain, resulting in a yellow warning.
