Odisha Braces for Heavy Rain as Low Pressure Develops

A low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal today, bringing heavy rain to the region. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this low-pressure system will develop over the East Central and nearby North Bay of Bengal. It is expected to move west-northwest towards South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh over the next two days.

As a result, heavy rain is expected in the state until the 31st. The IMD has issued an orange warning for four districts today: Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada, where very heavy rainfall is likely. A yellow warning has also been issued for 11 other districts, indicating the possibility of heavy rain in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri.

For tomorrow, a very heavy rain alert (orange warning) has been issued for Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts. Fishermen are advised not to go into the sea due to the heavy rain forecast for the 30th and 31st.
