The Malayalam film industry has been shaken by the recently released Hema Committee Report, which has brought to light multiple allegations of sexual harassment involving prominent figures. Since the report’s release, several actresses have come forward to share their experiences. Among them, actress Revathy Sampath has accused veteran actor Siddique, who also served as the General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Film Artists (AMMA).
Revathy revealed in a recent media interview that Siddique had initially addressed her as his “daughter” but later harassed her both physically and mentally. She recounted the incident, stating, “After completing my Plus Two, Siddique messaged me on Facebook. I had gone to discuss a film when I was 21. He called me ‘mole’ (a term of endearment in Kerala) and then abused me during the discussion. He was not the person I thought he was.”
Revathy went on to describe Siddique as a “criminal,” explaining that the harassment had left her traumatized and impacted her professional life. “No system supported me. It took me a long time to speak out. After the attack, Siddique acted as if nothing had happened, and everyone around me reacted as if it was a normal incident.”
Revathy said she fled the scene in an auto-rickshaw to escape the situation, doing the best she could at the time. Following her allegations, Siddique resigned from his position as General Secretary of AMMA on Sunday. Jayan Cherthala, AMMA’s Vice President, confirmed his resignation.
