The nation is in turmoil following the recent misbehavior and murder of a medical student at Arji Kar Medical College. The incident has sparked widespread protests among doctors, demanding justice.
Adding to the chaos, former Arji Kar Hospital Principal Sandeep Ghosh faces serious allegations. Akhtar Ali, former Deputy Superintendent of RG Kar Medical College, has claimed that Ghosh was involved in a scandalous racket selling unidentified dead bodies from the hospital. Ali also accused Ghosh of smuggling biomedical waste and medical equipment into Bangladesh.

Ali, who served as Deputy Superintendent until 2023, filed a complaint with the State Vigilance Commission against Ghosh. Despite an investigation finding Ghosh guilty, no action was taken. Ali further accused Ghosh of demanding bribes to pass students and failing some intentionally to collect exorbitant fees. He alleged that Ghosh took commissions from various sources.
The CBI has interrogated Ghosh for 63 hours over six days and plans to conduct lie detector tests. Ghosh’s legal troubles mount as new cases of financial irregularities emerge. The CBI will record his statement today and present him before the police.
Following the protests in Kolkata, Ghosh resigned from his position. However, he was swiftly appointed to Kolkata Medical College. The Calcutta High Court criticized the West Bengal government for this appointment. Ghosh has since been placed on indefinite leave.
