The in-laws allegedly poisoned the newlywed, cutting her life short. The incident took place in Charda village, Binika Thana, Subarnapur district. Anjali Mahakud, the deceased woman, had been married for less than six months to Narendra Padhan from Charda village.
Anjali’s mother filed a complaint at the Binika police station, accusing the in-laws of intentionally poisoning her daughter. According to the complaint, shortly after the marriage, Narendra began an affair with his brother-in-law Basanti. The father-in-law also demanded Anjali bring three loads of gold jewellery and 2 lakh rupees from her family. Anjali’s mother claims her daughter faced continuous torture because of these demands.
Poisoning worsened Anjali’s condition, prompting her admission to Binika Group Health Center. As her state became critical, doctors transferred her to Burla Medical Center, where she died while undergoing treatment.
The police have registered a case based on the complaint and are investigating the matter.
