A two-day training program for newly elected MLAs will take place today and tomorrow at the assembly premises. Rajya Sabha Vice Chairman Harisul Prasad, along with three Central Ministers from Odisha, will share their insights and experiences. Senior BJD leaders Ranendra Pratap Swaymen and Prafulla Ghadei are also scheduled to attend the event.
Despite the high-profile lineup, BJD members will not participate, arguing that the program undermines the dignity of the house. Opposition Chief Secretary Pramila Mallik has already communicated these concerns in a letter to the Speaker. The Congress has similarly announced its decision to boycott the orientation program.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling explained that the training is a traditional practice for new MLAs, with 87 newly elected representatives this session. The program aims to provide essential guidance and orientation for the incoming lawmakers.
