On Monday afternoon, eco driver Surendra, stationed near the roadways workshop, revealed that one individual collects 100 rupees daily as a contract fee, without providing any receipts. Additionally, two individuals charge 1,000 rupees monthly in the names of Cantt Chowki and Mahila Police Station.
Akhilesh, who arrived from Sindhauli with 13 passengers in his tempo, explained that they have no choice but to seat so many passengers to make ends meet. He purchased the tempo two months ago and operates it from Ashfaq Nagar Tiraha to Sindhauli. On Puwaiyan road, one person charges 70 rupees for the contract, while two youths demand 700 rupees monthly in the name of the police station.
After covering expenses, including diesel, drivers barely save 200 rupees daily, forcing them to carry 13 to 15 passengers. Akhilesh pointed out that if the police issue a challan, they must pay the fine themselves. He questioned why they are collecting 700 rupees in the name of the police station, stating that refusing to pay results in abuse.
