Unidentified Man Breaks into Cuttack School, Attacks Head Teacher with Wooden Stick

An unidentified young man broke into a school, causing terror among the students. Frightened by his erratic behaviour, the students watched in fear as he stormed in. The incident escalated when the youth struck the head teacher, Pradeepta Sahu, with a wooden stick, breaking his leg.

This unusual event occurred at Ganeshwarpur Primary School in Magura Panchayat, Tangi Choudwar Block, Cuttack District. The attacker, reportedly from Admwapur village, was believed to be mentally unstable.

While Principal Sahu was teaching, the young man entered the school grounds with a wooden stick, barged into the classroom, and began shouting incomprehensibly. When he attempted to harm the students, the principal intervened. Enraged, the man struck the principal’s leg with the stick, causing Sahu to collapse in pain.

Hearing the commotion, students alerted nearby villagers, who arrived, subdued the man, and restrained him. Upon learning about his mental condition, the village Sarpanch sent him to a medical centre for treatment. The injured principal was also taken to a medical centre, where doctors plastered his leg and advised him to rest. However, Sahu has been returning to school to teach the children.

Principal Pradeepta Sahu, who has held the position since 2017, shared his experience, saying, “This incident has shaken me. An unknown man entered with a wooden stick, and as I tried to protect the students, he attacked my leg. I have filed a complaint at Tangi police station.”

The Sarpanch confirmed that villagers sent the man, suffering from mental illness to a psychiatric ward after restraining him.
