Since the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5, Bangladesh has experienced a surge in violence targeting Hindus and other religious minorities. A human rights committee report released in the national capital on Wednesday highlights over 200 incidents of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. These incidents include gang rapes, boycotts of Hindu villages, intimidation, looting of shops, burning of houses and temples, and murders.
The issue was also a major topic at the three-day coordination meeting of the Sangh in Kannur, Kerala. There, like-minded organizations extensively discussed the situation and called on the central government to take necessary actions.
