Video Sparks Controversy as Public Opposes Waqf Amendment Bill

A viral video has sparked controversy, urging people to oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024. In the video, individuals campaign on the streets, warning that the bill will lead to the loss of mosques, shrines, and graveyards.

The Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 reached the Lok Sabha on August 8. However, opposition pressure forced its referral to the Joint Parliamentary Committee. The committee now seeks opinions from Muslim organizations and the public. The video urges people to act, claiming that the bill’s passage will result in Waqf properties being taken over.

In the video, filmed in a market, a person carries a loudspeaker while another delivers a speech through a microphone. The speaker warns that the bill, currently under review, threatens Waqf Board properties. He urges people to use their mobile phones to send their opposition to the committee by the 13th.

Meanwhile, Godda BJP MP Nishikant Dubey responded to the video on his X account, expressing his concerns. As a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, Dubey stated that he has read the bill multiple times and challenged the claims in the video. He asked which section of the bill empowers the government to seize mosques, graveyards, and madrasas. Dubey further criticized the video for spreading misinformation and creating hatred for political gain.

The video has sparked intense debate, as many now demand clarity on the Waqf Amendment Bill and its true implications.
