Animal fat allegedly mixed into the laddu prepared as Prasad at the Tirupati temple, and the use of inferior materials, have stirred controversy. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu made these serious accusations, causing outrage among devotees.
Naidu claimed, “During the Jagan government, I discovered that animal fat and low-quality materials went into the temple prasad.” He expressed deep shock and disappointment, emphasizing that such actions betrayed the trust of millions of devotees. He voiced these concerns during an NDA party meeting.
The Sri Venkateswara Swami temple in Tirupati, managed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, now prepares its laddu with pure ghee, according to Naidu, improving its standards.
YSR Congress strongly condemned Naidu’s accusations. Rajya Sabha MP YB Reddy labeled the claims as unfortunate and disrespectful, arguing they tarnish the temple’s sanctity. He criticized Naidu for making such remarks and challenged him to restore public faith in Tirupati by swearing before God with his family.
