AC cabin to be made mandatory in all trucks from 2025, Road Transport Ministry’s notification

New Delhi: Due to the poor condition of trucks in the country, the Indian government has made AC cabins mandatory for all trucks. The Ministry of Road Transport has issued a notification that from 2025, all new trucks will have factory-installed AC cabins. It will be mandatory to have an AC cabin for the driver. After several attempts over the past five years, the government has finally set an implementation date.

Air conditioning system will be installed in the cabin of all N2 and N3 category trucks manufactured on or after October 1, 2025, the ministry said in a gazette notification.

The notification states that the test notification for cabins equipped with air conditioning system will be as per automotive standards. This will include N2 and N3 category commercial vehicles.
