Bhubaneswar : Odisha’s Food Security Scheme, spearheaded by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has experienced commendable growth over a span of five years. Notably, the initiative encompasses 9,97,055 families, which translates to 31,92,923 individuals benefiting from the state’s food security plan. As part of this program, each person receives a monthly allocation of 5 kilograms of rice.

In a forward-looking move, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has extended the duration of this scheme for an additional five years. Consequently, this vital support system will continue to provide assistance until December 31, 2028. The decision to prolong the scheme underscores the government’s dedication to upholding the well-being of its citizens.

Financially, the state government has allocated a significant budget of 250 crore rupees annually, amounting to a total of 1,250 crore rupees over the course of five years. This financial commitment reflects the priority placed on food security within Odisha’s policy framework, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing the needs of the most vulnerable segments of the population.

Furthermore, the scheme explicitly aims to assist those in dire circumstances, ensuring that even the poorest individuals are not excluded from crucial food security measures.
