The historic Cuttack Bali Yatra kicks off tomorrow and will run until the 22nd. This year, foreign tourists will join the festivities, with ambassadors from 13 countries attending the High Commission’s inaugural program. Artists from various countries are set to showcase their work, while visitors indulge in a variety of international pies at the ‘Pitha Festival,’ also starting tomorrow.
At a press conference today, Cuttack District Magistrate Dattatreya Bhau Saheb Sinde revealed the full event lineup. He confirmed that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will officially inaugurate Bali Yatra at 5 pm tomorrow, with all arrangements finalized. The presence of 13 ambassadors highlights the state government’s commitment to elevating the festival to an international stage.
Artists from one or two countries will perform daily in the sand procession, with participants from eight countries already confirmed. The first day will also include the traditional hymn ceremony.
Adding a global flavor, the pie festival invites visitors to enjoy cakes from around the world alongside Odia pies.
A laser and drone show will light up the Bali Yatra riverfront, featuring a debut performance by a 400-drone display.
This year’s event spans 34 acres of lower ground and 8.5 acres of upper ground, with about 2,025 stalls reserved. Organizers expect a record turnout of over 70 lakh people. They have arranged 30 e-rickshaws, six dedicated lanes with seating for adults, and special services for the elderly and disabled. To accommodate the crowd, restroom facilities have increased from 2,000 to 3,800.
‘Cuttack in Cuttack’ will celebrate Odia Asmita and Odia Cinema, hosting a film festival with popular Odia films screened three times daily. The Biju Patnaik Film Institute will feature B films, while Bollywood Nights will bring vibrant entertainment.
To reduce traffic issues caused by unauthorized vendors along the Ring Road, authorities have designated 80,000 square feet in the lower area and 17,000 square feet in the upper area exclusively for them. Organizers have also arranged chemical sprays, sanitization, street lighting, and drinking water facilities throughout the Bali Yatra grounds to ensure visitor safety and comfort.
