Delhi’s AQI Crosses 500: Breathing Becomes a Struggle Amid Toxic Air

Poisonous air engulfs Delhi as smoke blankets the city, turning it into a gas chamber. The air pollution crisis has reached fatal levels, with visibility severely reduced. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi has shattered records, crossing 500 in multiple areas today.

Breathing has become a struggle as Delhi-NCR battles hazardous air pollution. Yesterday’s AQI stood at 470, but today it has escalated to 494. Alipur, Anand Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Temple Marg, and Mundka recorded AQI levels of 500, while Lodhi Road hit 493, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium 499, and Najafgarh 491.

In response to the worsening pollution, authorities have enforced GRAP-4 in Delhi. Schools have shifted to online classes, while Delhi University and JNU have also moved to virtual learning.

Government offices in Delhi have revised their working hours. MCD offices now operate from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, while Delhi government employees work from 10 AM to 6:30 PM. Private sector employees have been urged to work from home to reduce exposure to the deadly air.
