State’s Dhanmandis Open with New Roadmap to Resolve Farmers’ Long-Standing Issues

Since the 20th of this month, Dhanmandi has been open in the state. This time, the Mohan government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap to address the long-standing issues faced by farmers, such as token tension, millers’ arbitrariness, and crop cutting delays. To bring transparency to the process, the government has established a 24-hour control room.

The Supply Department will actively monitor all mandis through the control room, ensuring continuous surveillance. The control room will operate 24/7, and the authorities will implement strict measures to prevent any disorder at Dhanmandis.

Minister for Food Supply and Camp Welfare, Krishnachandra Pan, inaugurated the 24-hour control room. Farmers can now call the toll-free number 1967 to report any market-related issues.

In case of complaints, the nodal officer will immediately visit the site, and the Supply Department will act swiftly to resolve problems related to paddy procurement and mandis.

Agriculture Minister Krishnachandra Pan emphasized, “We have established the control room to prevent middlemen’s influence and eliminate any unfair practices.” The initiative enables farmers to directly communicate with Mandi officers. Each mandi now has a designated nodal officer who actively monitors activities on camera.

The authorities have upgraded the control room with the latest technology to ensure that farmers receive proper payment for their paddy, directly transferring funds to their accounts.

Last year, the previous government bought 58 lakh quintals of paddy. However, after announcing the bonus, the Mohan government has set a target to purchase 80 lakh quintals this year. Special focus is being given to avoid the issues faced by farmers in the mandis last year.

The cabinet has also approved a payment of 3100 rupees per quintal to the farmers, aiming to prevent brokers from exploiting the system. Increased patrolling will ensure that no one interferes with the mandi process.
