The CBI has arrested two individuals in connection with the assault and murder of a female trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, but the court has granted them bail. The court granted bail to Sandeep Ghosh, the former chairman of the medical college, for destroying evidence, and to former police officer Abhijit Mandal, who had been arrested for influencing witnesses.
The female trainee doctor faced charges of mischief and evidence destruction. After arresting Ghosh and Mandal on these charges, the CBI failed to file the chargesheet within 90 days, leading to their release on bail. Ghosh, however, will not be released immediately due to additional charges of financial irregularities.
Meanwhile, the parents of the murdered female junior doctor are still waiting for justice. They have expressed their disappointment over the court’s decision to grant bail to the two accused, feeling betrayed by the system and questioning the fairness of the process.
