BJP leader and Dharmachaya MLA Himanshu Shekhar Sahu (Liku) accused influential BJD leader and former Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das, alias Bobby, of orchestrating an attack on him. He claimed BJD supporters attempted to kill him, adding that the ruling party, after 25 years in power, now resorts to violence and threats for monetary gains. “We will not tolerate such actions. Strict measures will punish the culprits,” Sahu declared after the deadly attack yesterday.
The MLA confirmed that the government has already arrested 10 attackers and vowed to apprehend the rest soon. “Unlike the BJD, which targets innocent people, we will ensure that the guilty face justice. The BJP stands for peace, order, and the rule of law. Justice will prevail, and offenders will face consequences,” he asserted.
Sahu accused the BJD of creating fear in Jajpur, with residents living under the constant threat of their goons. He alleged that the party, desperate to cling to power after decades of dominance, is panicking as its influence declines. “This is the first time I have witnessed such aggression in Jajpur politics,” he remarked.
He revealed that individuals associated with Pranab Prakash Das had threatened him directly. “They said Bobby Das sent them and warned they would not allow me or any BJP leader to enter Jajpur. They even threatened to kill us,” Sahu stated. He assured that authorities would arrest everyone involved in the attack and take strict action against them. The MLA also disclosed receiving threatening phone calls connected to the incident.
