Nawab Singh Jacob, a leader of the Socialist Party, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh on charges of molesting a 15-year-old girl. The arrest follows a late-night call to the 112 helpline, where the girl reported being picked up and abused.
According to Uttar Pradesh Police, they received the distress call around 12:30 AM yesterday. Officers arrived at the scene to find Jacob in an offensive condition. The minor was rescued, and Jacob was subsequently arrested and brought before the court. He has been placed in 14-day judicial custody, as confirmed by SP Amit Kumar Anand of Kannur.
During interrogation, the minor alleged that Jacob had taken her to his residence under the pretense of getting her socks repaired. Based on her statement, a case under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act has been filed against Jacob.
Jacob has denied the allegations, calling them a conspiracy. The minor has been sent for a medical examination. In response to the incident, the Socialist Party has clarified that Jacob is not affiliated with their party.
